Mike McInerney back to musicians
Mike McInerney is a musician based in South Devon. He plays the Japanese shakuhachi flute and all kinds of keyboards and synthesizers. He is particularly keen on connecting his love of traditional Zen shakuhachi music with noisy technology. He improvises sometimes, and sometimes plays composed pieces. He is an occasional percussionist with the Torbay Symphony Orchestra. As a composer and performer he has presented music at Neue Töne Open in Stuttgart (2011), Noise=Noise 17 (2010), the Unit for Sound Practice Research at Goldsmith’s College (2009), Sonic Arts’ EXPO (Leeds 2009, Brighton 2008 and Plymouth 2007), a festival of bamboo arts and sustainable construction in Porthleven (2008), Plymouth New Music Festival (in 2012, 2011 and 2007) and the Plymouth Contemporary Piano series (2009). Mike is also a music lecturer with the University of Plymouth.
